But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord…
Noah – was just a man and perfect in his generations –
and Noah walked with God!
For the first time in the Scripture we see the word “grace”.
Noah was the kind of man God could use because he found favor before the Lord.
WHY he found favor with God is found in Verse 9.
Genesis 6:9 (ASV)
[9] These are the generations of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, and perfect in his generations: Noah walked with God.
I. He Was a Just Man
Noah was a “Just Man” because of his Faith.
No person becomes “just” without proper faith in God.
In Romans 5:1 the Bible says therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Hebrews 11:7 indicates Noah’s faith:
1. The ground of His faith was the word of God – “By faith Noah being warned of God…”
2. The sphere of his faith was not by sight… “of things not seen as of yet…”
3. The character of his faith was reverential trust in God — moved with fear
4. The evidence of his faith was his works — “prepared an ark”
5. The issue of his faith was the salvation of he and his family — “to the saving of his house”
6. The witness of his faith was against unbelief “By which he condemned the world”
7. The reward of his faith was becoming an heir — and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith”
Romans 8:17 “and if children then heirs; heirs of God, and joint heirs with Christ”
II. He Was Perfect in His Generation
This does not mean he was sinless, but one who was entirely without blemish – undefiled by the world.
God used him because he was not involved in the worldliness and wickedness of his day.
God uses the same kind of person today —
We should live soberly, righteously, and Godly in this present world —
Titus 2:12 – Teaches us that denying ungodliness and worldly lusts is the way we should live
III. He Walked with God
The word “walked” means “in conjunction; beside.”
The same idea is presented in the phrase in Acts 4:13 “Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men. They marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus —
Noah lived daily in conjunction with and in communion with God.
He lived his life beside God in fellowship with Him.
Peter and John did the same thing
They resembled Jesus in their lives….
They were in union with Him in life and now by the Holy Spirirt.
They walked with God.
Are YOU walking with God?
Conclusion:
The kind of people God will use are those like Noah.
Those who have come in saving faith to Christ.
Those who are not defiled in worldly activities and attitudes.
Those who live daily… in communion and fellowship with God in His word by the spirit.
