Paul Stirs Up the Gifts of Others

2 Timothy 1:1-5

This touching letter was written by Paul to his “dearly beloved son” —

Shortly before his martyrdom – and contains the last words of the great apostle which inspiration has preserved notice.

Paul was not telling his young friend about all the martyrdom – how Nero had killed so many – how they were fed to the dogs and burned them to death at the stake – and was about to take him out to slay him

– No –

He was telling the young man to stir up the Gifts of God that were in Him —

All have some Gifts that God has given you – so let’s stir up what God has given to us.

— that God might be glorified in you and me.

Paul knew this man had gifts because his grandmother Lois and his mother Eunice had unfeigned Faith.

— They believed God and Loved God

Mothers can you qualify at this point — Could someone tell your sons and daughters about YOUR faith in God?  – His church – His son – His work

in his mission program.

Let us see what Paul was saying

1.  STIR UP THE GIFT OF SPEECH

What did we talk about this week?

Have you talked about Jesus?

Did you tell some how to be saved?

Remember there are only two kinds of people – saved and lost.

We can all talk about something — Let it be God and His church

– this Revival.

2. STIR UP YOUR WINSOME or SMILING PERSONALITY

God gives you a different personality from any other person.

Use it for God and His glory  — it is a wonderful thing to have.

3. STIR THE GIFT OF INFLUENCE

Do you use your influence for God?

— for Good?

A Good Name — preach the Word.

Don’t let persecutions hinder you —

Paul tells Timothy that he had fought a good fight and am ready to be offered and the time of my departure is at hand…

How about you?  Are You Ready?
